Befaco - Chopping Kinky

available

Chopping kinky is a voltage controllable, dual channel wavefolder. As an unique feature it has a chop out that will choose between both channels with a zero cross detector or an external gate.• A wavefolder converts simple signals into richer and more dynamically changing ones. In contrast to a filter, wave folding adds harmonic content to the waveform. It works by amplifying the waveform until it begins to saturate, then rather than clipping, the waveform gets folded back in on itself.• Each of the module’s two channels has a unique wave folding profile. At each input, there are two CV inputs for controlling the level of waveshaping including one that passes through an attenueverter.• Chopping Kinky is DC coupled allowing it to be used for both CV and audio duties; to generate harmonics on an audio signal or kinking LFOs and envelopes.Features:• Two unique wavefolder circuits• Two CV inputs per channel, one with attenuverter.• DC Coupled inputs allowing CV signals.• Chop out with zero cross detector.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module. Only trough-hole parts to solder. Make sure to check the build guide before you buy. Befaco - Pony VCO

available

Analog Thru-Zero Wavefolding VCO/LFOPony VCO is a fully analog Thru-Zero oscillator with wavefolder and dedicated VCA in only 4HP. The module offers great stability and tuning capabilities thanks to its powerful core, based on Sound Semiconductors IC. It comes with range selector, that allows it to go down to LFO range, as well as octave and waveform selectors. In Through Zero oscillators, frequency is controlled by either positive and negative voltage. If FM CV goes below zero, the core will continue oscillating inverting its phase. This “little” change of behaviour allows the core to create a whole new range of timbres that are just impossible to achieve with regular VCOs. If you set the module as LFO, the range of funky modulations will be endless! There is a separate panel for conversion to 1U available. You can use the 1U panel with the normal 3U module, but have to buy it additionally and you have to make some changes by soldering a hand full of SMD parts, but it's quite easy. 1U format keeping the same functionality and control layout. In Through Zero oscillators, frequency is controlled by either positive and negative voltage. Erica Synths - EDU DIY Wavefolder

only 2 left

Even though wavefolding is more of a west coast synthesis concept, it’s a great addition to the otherwise very east coast mki x es.edu DIY system. Why? Because it can provide a ton of unusual timbres for your patches: from a slight dash of brightness to harsh metallic drones. That’s why we came up with this super simple BJT-based double wavefolder. We – Erica Synths and Moritz Klein – have developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you’ll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, we want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice we’ve made and how it impacts the finished module. In total, we have developed 9 kits to build a fully-featured modular monosynth: a sequencer, a VCO, a wavefolder, a noise/S&H module, a mixer, a VCF, an Envelope generator, a dual VCA, and an output stereo mixer with a headphone amplifier. Additionally, an affordable eurorack case with a DIY PSU will also be available. While these kits are easy to build, we did not compromise on design and functionality. We will launch one kit every 4-6 weeks. For each kit, there is an extensive user manual (40+ pages; can be downloaded separately) that will dive deep into not only the electronics behind each circuit but also the fundamental principles of sound synthesis. We hope that the mki x es.EDU project will inspire future engineers and will contribute to the ever-growing diversity of electronic music technology.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Making Sound Machines - Farbfolder

available

Farbfolder is an analog wavefolder for Eurorack, designed to add harmonically related overtones to an audio signal. We have always been fascinated with analogue effects circuits, and we love the way their quirks and nonlinearities inspire us to find new sounds.Farbfolder does this weird and wonderful trick of folding up the wave at the zero points, "squaring" a sine off with more and more sinusoid edges, thus adding odd harmonics. This module is excellent at adding rich harmonics to a basic waveform. Its circuit can produce characteristic timbres similar to pulse-width and frequency modulation. It is part of our Farbfilter (colour filter) range of sound colouring modules, offering a wide sonic palette from lending subtle colour to rich timbre bending tones in 4 HP.Farbfolder is designed to be an easy, beginner-friendly DIY build you can solder yourself.Features:• Classic analog West Coast circuit: odd harmonics Wavefolder.• Offset and Attenuation for Fold CV for flexible modulation.• Bias Folding: Offset Audio input with CV.• Push Bias into dead zone for VCA-like use.• Backlit panel offers instant visual feedback over CV.• Flip panel: with or without number.DIY-Kit-Type:Semi-DIY-Kit. Most of the components are completely ready, you only have to assemble panel, knobs and some screws/washers.

Making Sound Machines - Farbshaper

Farbshaper is a classic West Coast analog waveshaper for Eurorack, designed to shape the overtones of an audio signal with two voltage controlled stages. We have always been fascinated with analogue effects circuits, and we love the way their quirks and nonlinearities inspire us to find new sounds.Farbshaper is based on a classic circuit that turns a ramp into a sine, and was historically used in function generators and oscillators. On any other signal it will add one or multiple wave folds. The circuit produces opposite offsets internally, so the knob settings interact strongly and are fun to automate with CV.This module is excellent to use as a non-linear shaper for acoustic and electronic sounds, ranging from gentle timbral transformation to colourful wavefolding. It is part of our Farbfilter (colour filter) range of sound colouring modules, offering a wide sonic palette from lending subtle colour to rich timbre bending tones in 4 HP.Farbshaper is designed to be an easy, beginner-friendly DIY build you can solder yourself.Features:• Classic analog West Coast circuit: multi stage Waveshaper / -folder.• CV and Attenuation to control first single Fold stage.• CV and Attenuation to control Pleat, a second dual Fold stage.• Internal CV offset creates dead zones for VCA-like use.• Backlit panel offers instant visual feedback over CV.• Flip panel: with or without number.DIY-Kit-Type:Semi-DIY-Kit. MRG Synthesizer - FOLD

sold out at the moment

The MRG FOLD is a wave folder inspired by the Harmonics section of the Buchla 259. It is not a clone, however, as it has four folding stages instead of five, and the internal opamps of the wavefolding section have been changed from the original to work at 5V instead of 6V. Furthermore, the input signal isinternally attenuated to 1V instead of .7V. All of this required a complete recalculation of all parameters of the wavefolding circuit. As the original, MRG FOLD has the possibility of mixing the input signal with the folded one (dry/wet).A unique feature of the MRG FOLD is that it allows to substitute in the mixing the input signal with an external one.On top of this, the FOLD has an overdrive stage, right after the wet/dry mixing, that contributes to the personality of the module.DIY-Kit-Type:SMD-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module. All SMD parts are pre-soldered, only trough-hole parts to solder. Neutral Labs - Meg

only 1 left

Meg is a unique kind of waveshaper. Instead of folding the wave back in on itself like a common wavefolder, it shifts parts of the wave up or down, with the shifting threshold being adjustable. The resulting 2 half-waves can be flattened one by one, essentially morphing into a half square wave and eventually a full square wave. Essentially, it will add pulse-width modulation (and more) to any kind of wave. Both knobs can be fully CV controlled.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module. Only trough-hole parts to solder. Make sure to check the build guide before you buy. Zlob Modular - Foldiplier

available

The Foldiplier is a 4 HP odd/even harmonics generator with 2 different oscillating feedback paths. The folding core of the design originates from the odd harmonics (middle)section of the Serge Wave Multiplier. But the Foldiplier adds voltage control over the symmetry and offset as well as a switch for feedback, jumper selectable between, a transistor based oscillating fuzz inspired by the Hemmo Bazz Fuss with a lot more low harmonic content and a passive oscillating half wave rectification circuit with more high harmonic content. When these feedback oscillations mix with an incoming waveform some unpredictable and unique nonlinear timbres can be achieved. The module can also be used as a no-input experimental oscillator with the feedback switch engaged. All diodes in the module are silicon. The Fold knob controls the amount of times the waveform is folded in on its self (indicated by the red led window below the knob). The C.V. knob below is an attenuator for incoming control voltage corresponding to the Fold jack(indicated by the red led window above the jack, it only responds to positive voltage). So, the Fold knob acts like an initial amount of folding depending on its position. For example, with the Fold knob fully clockwise you can get even more folds with a control voltage in at the Fold jack. The Offset knob controls how much positive DC voltage(0 to 5v, clockwise) or negative(0 to -5v counter clockwise) DC voltage(indicated by the led window above the Offset jack, red for positive, yellow for negative) injected into the waveform via the Symmetry knob. With the Offset knob position at noon(0v) there will little effect from the Symmetry knob. The Offset jack is expecting +5v to -5v with knob position at noon to scan through the positive and negative voltage. The Symmetry knob controls the amount of negative or positive offset voltage(dependent on the Offset knob) mixed with the waveform(indicated by the yellow led window above the Symmetry jack). If positive voltage is mixed with incoming waveform more folds will occur on the positive troughs of the waveform, likewise, when negative voltage is introduced more folds happen on the negative troughs. This part of the circuit can also be broken down by thinking of the Offset as a voltage controlled crossfader swinging between positive and negative voltages into a VCA controlled by the Symmetry knob and jack. When a voltage is present at the Symmetry jack the Symmetry knob becomes an attenuator. The Symmetry jack only responds to positive voltageDIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1.
