The MetaModule puts real knobs and jacks on virtual software modules. Step back from the computer and make music with hardware, while keeping the flexibility and expandability of software.THIS PRODUCT IS ASSEMBLED AND NO DIY!The MetaModule comes with over 160 built-in modules from 4ms Company, Befaco, HetrickCV, NonlinearCircuits, and Scanner Darkly, plus clones of popular classics such as the Mutable Instruments Eurorack modules, fun physical modeling algorithms, and lots of handy utilities. All of the included modules are also available on the computer using the free program VCV Rack. Whether you make patches on VCV Rack and transfer them to the MetaModule, or if you just create patches directly on the MetaModule, there are plenty of creative modules to inspire new ways to make music.MetaModule PluginsIf the 160+ built-in module aren’t enough, you can load more modules as plugins. Already there are over 200 modules in third-party plugins from Bogaudio, Valley, ChowDSP, NANO Modular, and the list is growing. We have an SDK available to make it easy for VCV Rack plugin developers to convert their plugin to a MetaModule plugin. Our licensing terms are non-restrictive: developers are welcome to distribute their plugin in any way they wish, commercially or not.Mapping Knobs and JacksThe MetaModule has 12 knobs that can be mapped to virtual knobs. Each knob can be mapped to up eight virtual knobs, and each mapping can have a different range and offset. You also can save a group of mappings as a Knob Set and switch between Knob Sets with the encoder. You also can map the 8 inputs and 8 outputs to virtual module jacks. Also, the MetaModule is a USB MIDI host, so you also can map MIDI CC, note, gate, and other parameters to knobs and jacks.ExpandersThere are lots of ways to customize your MetaModule. A Wifi expander allows you to wirelessly transfer patches from your computer. Add eight more knobs with the Knob expander, or buttons with the Button expander. A CV/Audio expander adds more high-resolution inputs and outputs, and the Gate In/Out expander adds not only gate jacks but also TRS MIDI and I2C.Under the HoodThere are six CV/Audio inputs, two gate inputs, and six CV/Audio outputs. The CV/Audio jacks are all 24-bit, 48kHz DC-coupled, -10V to +10V. A USB-C jack accepts MIDI devices and thumb drives. Patches and plugins can be loaded via a USB drive or microSD Card, and internal flash memory lets you save patches you always want to come back to.The processor is more advanced than anything 4ms has used in the past, and is among the most powerful processors found in Eurorack. Startup time and latency are blazingly fast.Features:Patches• Patches are loaded from microSD Card, USB drive, or via the Wifi expander• Patches can be optionally saved onto internal flash memory• Create patches using VCV Rack or directly on MetaModule• Patches can be given a name and descriptionMappings• Map each physical knob to up to 8 virtual knobs• Set range and offset for each mapping, including inverted control• Knob mappings are grouped into Knob Sets, and changing Knob Sets can be done quickly without menu-diving• Map physical jacks to virtual jacks, seamlessly making splits/mults• Add or edit modules, cables, and mappings in real-time while the patch is playing• Create alias names for mappings like "Kick Drum Level"Interface• Simple, intuitive graphical interface lets you zoom in on details, or zoom out to get a big picture• Patch View displays the patch as faceplates and cables, with knobs, buttons, and lights animating in real-time• Knob Set View simplifies the display, showing only the mapped knobs for the current Knob Set• Module View shows just one module and lists the names of each jack, knob, and control legibly• Mapping View lets you adjust details of a knob mapping• Adjust styles and visual preferences to your liking• Save, rename, duplicate, and delete patches• Firmware updater and plugin loader read from microSD Card or USB driveHardware• 12 Knobs• 8 CV/Audio outputs, 24-bit 48kHz, -10V to +10V, DC-coupled• 6 CV/Audio inputs, 24-bit 48kHz, -10V to +10V, DC-coupled• 2 Gate inputs• USB-C jack: MIDI Host or MSC (External drive) Host• microSD Card slot• Internal Flash RAM for additional patch storage• Dual-core 800MHz Cortex-A7 plus Cortex-M4 co-processor• 512MB DDR3 533MHz RAM• Bare-metal operation for fast startup and low latencyDIY-Kit-Type:Assembled unit. Crush Delay v3 is a special Echo-Delay unit based on the PT2399 IC, which is able to offer 400ms of clean delay and up to 2 seconds of dirty repetitions, having a special talent to generate noisy-glitch textures. This third version comes with some interesting new features like redesigned VCAs circuits, wider range for clean delay and reduced depth to make it skiff friendly.• The module has two inputs (In and Return) that go to the Delay circuit through a dedicated VCA for each one. The main difference between both inputs is the signal fed into In is going to the Dry/Wet circuit also, not only to the Delay, allowing you to control the balance between the original and the processed signal present at the main output (Out).• The signal is processed by the Delay circuit, which is affected by the Crush section. It degrades the signal at slow rates in different ways, depending on the position of the three Crush switches or by the presence of gate signals at the Crush inputs.• After being processed, the signal is routed to three different paths. The first one goes into Dry/Wet, where it’s mixed with the original input signal (In) before going to the main output (Out). The second one is returned to the Delay circuit through another VCA (Feedback), controlling the number of repetitions of the wet signal. Finally, the last one goes directly to the Send output.Features:• Input signal controlled by VCA’s• Bigger range of clean delay• Three different Crush Modifiers based on circuit bending techniques.• VC Feedback wit automatic gain controlDIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This module is based around a BBD integrated circuit and allows for classic delay-based effects, from slapback echoes to trailing reverberations, from flanger-like sounds to crusty down-sampled madness. The module is DIY, sold as a kit by Erica Synths and comes with a very thorough assembly manual that provides deep insight into the functioning of every part of the circuit you'll build. The module itself features all your classic delay-related controls, from delay time to feedback amount, a dry/wet mix control and even a switch to select between 2 different delay ranges.A nice, surprising addition is a patch point labeled "Inhibit CV" which, whenever it is presented with a gate signal, will disconnect the clock signal from the BBD chip, essentially stopping the effect in its tracks. The clock will resume as soon as the gate goes low at this patch point, and the BBD circuit will then return to normal operation. This feature lets the player add some rhythm to the effect or perform other interesting shenanigans. We - Erica Synths and Moritz Klein - have developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you’ll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, we want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice we’ve made and how it impacts the finished module.NB! All kits in these series are simple and come with extensive user manuals which can be downloaded separately, therefore we will not provide customer support in case your DIY build fails to function or similar.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is the DIY version of the Crum Hum!Crum Hum is a 3-voice experimental and expressive soundscaping instrument designed for generative and ever-evolving melodic and harmonic creation. The Crum Hum features 12 sound engines which range from simple sawtooth and square waves with lowpass filtering, to various wavetable and FM engines and more complex setups like bass, chords, and melody. There are also 12 different built-in scales to play with. Each of the three voices has a triangular touchpad that lets you control the timbre and volume simultaneously. Each voice also offers a Frequency knob for setting the lowest possible note, as well as a Random knob that sets the probability of notes being played for each clock pulse. The Tone knob affects the timbre of all three voices simultaneously. What it does exactly depends on the selected sound engine and the tone can also be randomized for subtle to drastic sonic variations at each clock pulse. Moreover, Crum Hum features built-in delay, reverb, and overdrive effects, as well as an LFO that can modulate the frequency, tone, or volume. There’s an internal clock generator, but it’s also possible to sync the synth to an external clock source. Most parameters can be controlled via MIDI CC (see the user manual for more details). In addition to a stereo audio output, Crum Hum features a CV output that corresponds to the touchpads, allowing for expressive control of other modular instruments.Features:• 3 x melodic voices with expressive touch control• 12 x different sound engines• Generative & randomized melodic and chord generation• 12 x different scales• Built-in delay, reverb, overdrive and LFO• 3.5mm CV output• 3.5mm Clock input• Send and receive Midi sequencing and Midi CC.DIY-Kit-Type:Crum Drum is a 4-voice drum machine with built in randomization and probability based sequencing designed by NYSTRÖMRhythms can be created and manipulated using the internal random sequencer or externally via MIDI USB. Press the beat button to generate new rhythms, adjust the probability to create continuous variations, and increase the randomness to modulate the sound of your beats! Generated sequences can also be sent out via MIDI USB and Crum Drum can also sync via analog clock in and out.The four voices of Crum Drum are Kick, Snare, HiHat and Bass (FM). There are 8 parameters knobs to sculpt the character of each voice allowing for wide variety of tones. It’s easy to create varied and organic sequences by adding modulation via the Probability and Randomness controls. Probability sets the chance that the selected voice will play per step of the sequence, while randomness increases the parameter modulation for each voice. The higher the randomness, the more each instrument parameter is modulated per step. Some of the instrument parameter controls have different behaviours depending on which voice is selected, so make sure to check the user manual for full details.Crum Drum features four global effects which are: Overdrive, Reverb, Delay and Swing. The delay-time is tempo synced and the subdivided differently dependent on the BPM.Power is provided via micro usb cable (not included)Features:• 4 instruments: Kick, Snare, HiHat, Bass• 8 sound parameters per instrument• Overdrive, Reverb, Delay & Swing• Send & Recieve Analog & Midi USB clock• Send & Receive Midi USB sequencing• Randomised and probability based sequencingDIY-Kit-Type:SMD-Kit-1.
