Creating a YouTube channel in 2014 allowed me to both document my own journey through music and technology but also to work with companies and individuals to teach synthesis and sound design techniques through the creation of in depth product demos, demonstrating equipment in a raw technical form looking at features while exploring musical examples.
The technical and educational sides of the video demonstrations alongside my background and continuing practice of music creation has led to beta testing and product development as well as consultation with a wide range of both hardware and software music companies – often on the cutting edge of instrument design and music technology.
Striving to fulfil needs and gaps in the Eurorack marketplace, a series of collaborative DivKid modules launched in 2019 with more collaboration and modules to come in the future. Mutes goes above and beyond basic muting by allowing you to split groups of signals to multiple destinations, making it great for FX dub performing and varied signal routing.Vactrols on the circuit gives to the switching a pleasing decay for both audio and modulation as well a totally click free muting.Three-position switch: MOMENTARY signal pass-through (it springs back to the center when released); OFF (or muted) in the center; and ON to the right.This module is designed in collaboration with Ben Wilson aka Divkid.Features:• LEDs to visualise signals• 3 way momentary – off – on switching• Buffered and cascading normalising of inputs• Black metal panel• Vactrol based mutingDIY-Kit-Type:SMD-Kit-1. Stereo Strip takes the idea of a channel strip and makes it modular. We hope that by bringing this long-established component of the audio engineering world into the Eurorack environment and by adding CV control over its key parameters that you will find new, creative ways to use it in your patches!It features stereo inputs and outputs for audio or CV with EQ, voltage controlled panning, stereo VCA, performable mute and input/output level switching for Eurorack or line level uses. Abusing the input level switching allows for some musical, modulate-able and highly shapeable distortion sounds too.Stereo Strip was designed to be a creative part of a modular patch. Creating stereo images from mono sources, shaping and modulating existing stereo images, synthesising stereo pseudo ring modulation, sweetening FX with EQ or drastically wave shaping your oscillators, creating send FX routings with benefits or it can simply be used as a channel strip at the end of chain in a patch.The addition of line level gain boosting (for the input) or reduction (for the output) allow it to work as a stereo input or output interface for external gear with the advantage of the VCA, panning and the EQ to shape the sound. If you’re new to the term ‘channel strip’ think of a single channel strip from a mixing desk. You’ll find amplification, EQ, panning and level control options.
