Jolin is an audio electronics lab specialized in eurorack modules, sound sculptures and DIY workshops.
The project was founded in Milan, Italy in the summer of 2018 by Federico Intrisano, hardware designer, and Pedro Ferragut, software engineer. The aim is promoting electronic music made with analog and digital synthesizers.
Although our main activity is research, we also build hand-crafted instruments and DIY kits with educational aim.

AGOGO is an octal analogue vactrol-based low pass gate and mixer in a cascade configuration. Each one of its input, CV and output is normalized and buffered to the next one: it can be used as a multiplier and a mixer for both audio and CV.Inputs are normalled and outputs are mixed: thanks to this configuration it can be used as a modulation matrix and a signal router. ASCOLTA is a dual high fidelity input preamp with envelope follower and peak detector output for each channel. Ascolta consist of two individual high quality preamp connected to an envelope follower and a peak detector output. On the back of the module you can select the behaviour of its internal normalization when no cable is plugged into I2:S: the first input I1 will accept stereo 3.5mm standard cables from any source and split L and R to output O1 and O2 respectively. Quad stereo VCA and panner.ASHIKO is a quad ping-pong VCA designed to create multi-directional stereo sounds starting with mono sources. When an output is linearly opening the other one is alternately closing following the behaviour of the CV source. GETREKT is a full analogue waveshaper - an aggressive one. Disrupt and Pieces are analog touch controls; they act like potentiometers and they keep the value once the finger is lifted from the surface.DISRUPT: controls how much the output is affected by the waveshaper circuit. At maximum it will fold and create a total harmonic distortion.PIECES: the pulse width of the resulting transformed wave.Both parameters have a dedicated reactive CV input. GITGUD is a pack of 9 individual LFOs - 5 squares and 4 triangle waves.The frequency is set with analog touch controls; they act like potentiometers and they keep the value once the finger is lifted from the surface.As it takes time to turn a pot, it takes time to interact with these controls:bridge with your finger the first line and the center to decrease the frequency or the center and the last one to increment. A red and a blue LEDs will light up to give visual feedback of the speed of that LFO. Analog optocoupler filther.GOBLET is an analog filter and distortion unit with some added quirks and extra controls. Start with both faders - frequency and resonance - at maximum, turn the trimmers fully clockwise and set the feedback pot at 0. Now insert an input and take the output either from the lowpass out or the notch out. Start to turn the frequency trimmer until the resonance kicks in. Now adjust the resonance trimmer to your taste. The faders now have full range of responsiveness. Adjust the feedback and start the filthering. Macro ControllerKNOBI is a multi-tool able to mix, attenuate, invert, display and multiply any kind of signal. Knobi can serve a wide range of purposes thanks to its internal signal path that makes use of some of the most useful building blocks of analog synthesis: a 4-channel mixer, a three-range offset, an attenuverter, a fixed manual gate and lastly a cascading multiple derived from the output stage of Agogô.a, b, c and d are Knobi’s inputs while r is a fixed 5v reference output. The toggle switch next to d sets the range of the offset - the big knob below the meter. Connect a signal into one of the inputs to visualize its voltage value in the three digits meter. Keep in mind that this reading happens post offset and attenuverter - the smaller knob with (-) and (+) indications.The pushbutton next to x4 adds a gate of 5v to the mix: with no input connected it will act as a manual gate output. Autopatch the r reference output into one of the inputs to use Knobi as a macro controller thanks the offset knob and switch to set the range and the attenuverter.x1, x2, x3 and x4 are all cascading copies of the final signal path. Plugging a cable will break the normalization and the multiplication will reset starting from the next output. NEXUM is a smart eurorack multi-cable tester.Plug a cable in one of the sockets and the other end specularly on the opposite side. Check if the blue LEDs light up steady in a number equal to the cores of the cable you are testing. Wiggle the wire back and forth just to be sure that all the individual cores are firmly connected.Due to its configuration, the connection is considered true only if there is no continuity between the adjacent wires or discontinuity in that specific core.
