Befaco is an Eurorack manufacturer that also offers DIY kits, organizes workshops and releases their designs under Creative Commons license.
In February 2010 Befaco was created as an open hardware platform focusing on professional DIY musical hardware, materializing the previous electronic, musical and artistic research of its members.
Our main activity has been developing synthesizer modules in eurorack
format and making them available in workshops. All this research is
published under CC-NC-SA License, so people can download the schematics,
and technical assembly guides, to make their own variations of the
projects for personal and educative purposes. Also build all our designs
during our regular workshops in cities as Barcelona, Madrid, London or
Berlin.
During the past twelve years, apart of these regular four
cities, we have visited cities as Tokyo, Kyoto, Toronto, Montreal,
Chicago, Frankfurt, Helsinki, Lyon, Stuttgart and Amsterdam, amongst
many other European cities.
These workshops are a huge test playground where we can track each module being built by different worldwide users, get direct feedback and quickly improve them with, develop new ones, or adapt these instruments to users demands constantly.
Direct contact with DIY enthusiasts allows an implication of users in the structure, allowing them to design their own modules and develop them in a professional way. This has developed into an incubation environment for several new modular initiatives, allowing different makers to start their own similar projects.
Befaco initiative is possible thanks to the support of Hangar, an artistic production centre in Barcelona, Barcelona city hall and the titanic work by the whole Befaco team.

General Warnings
Fire and Heat
• Cotton is a combustible material. Keep the product away from open flames, sparks, hot surfaces and other sources of ignition.
• Do not place the product directly on heaters, lamps, cooking appliances or other heat-producing equipment.
• Do not use the product where flame-resistant or heat-resistant clothing or materials are required.
Suffocation and Strangulation
• Keep packaging materials, plastic bags and wrapping away from babies and children to prevent suffocation.
• Do not allow babies or young children to use large or loose textile items without appropriate adult supervision.
• If the product includes cords, straps or drawstrings, keep them away from the neck and follow the intended-use instructions.
Skin Contact
• Wash the product before first use, particularly when it will be worn directly against the skin.
• Discontinue use if irritation, redness or another adverse skin reaction occurs.
• Persons with known sensitivities to textile dyes, finishes or detergents should take appropriate care.
Care Instructions
• Follow the care instructions provided on the product label or product packaging.
• Wash only at the recommended temperature.
• Wash with similar colours. Dark or strongly coloured textiles may release excess dye during the first washes.
• Use suitable detergents and follow the detergent manufacturer’s instructions.
• Do not use bleach, tumble-dry, iron or dry-clean the product unless permitted by the care label.
• Keep the product away from fire and excessive heat while drying.
• Cotton textiles may shrink, crease or change slightly in shape during washing and drying. Correct washing and drying help reduce these effects.
