Frequency Central - Shapes
Frequency Central - Shapes

available

Shapes is a wide ranging and fully analogue oscillator which can perform duties as both auxilliary VCO* as well as VC-LFO. Shapes can be configured to cycle continuously, or to provide one-shot shaped outputs. When set to one-shot mode, Shapes may be used as an ersatz envelope generator.Using the Time knob, Shapes can cycle from as low as 8 seconds (whale song) to as high as 19500Hz (bat beeps).Shapes has 3 simultaneous outputs:sawtooth (+/-5V, 10Vpp)ramp (+/-5V, 10Vpp)triangle (+/-5V, 10Vpp)Additional waveforms may be derived courtesy of the Shape knob. Anticlockwise from 0 achieves progressively logarithmic sawtooths and ramps, whereas clockwise from 0 achieves progressively exponential sawtooths and ramps. The effect of the Shape knob on the triangle waveform is asymmetric, anticlockwise from 0 achieves progressively logarithmic leading edge, whereas clockwise from 0 achieves progressively exponential falling edge. Progressively exponential triangle waveforms can be achieved using the Time CV knob (set Shape knob to 0) providing there is no jack in the Time CV input socketTime CV input provides wide ranging control of time. It is possible to dial in something approaching 1V/oct over a limited range, although Shapes has not been designed to perform as an accurately tracking VCO. In the audio range, Shapes comes into it’s own when used as a ‘daughter’ VCO to an external ‘mother’ VCO by patching the ‘mother’ VCO into Shapes’ Gate In input socket – some impressive oscillator sync style effects can be achieved.Gate In can also be used to initiate waveforms in one-shot mode, where a pulse of any length will cause Shapes to complete one cycle.*Shapes has not been designed to perform as an accurately tracking audio VCO.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Variable Roland style filter. Based on the Roland System 700 state variable filter module. Lowpass, bandpass and highpass outputs. A big part of the sound of the State 700 is the way in which resonance is reduced as the audio inputs are driven harder. It won’t self oscillate with a hot audio input, throttle back a little and you’ll get squelchy ear bleeding resonances!DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. Frequency Central - Turn! Turn!

Fixed voltage sources are not a new idea in modular, but we hope that Turn! Turn! brings a new twist to the concept. Turn! Turn! features two independent fixed voltage sources with a useful range of features.Turn! Turn! grew out of a conversation with Steve Levine – when a producer of such note makes a suggestion you have to listen – and act on it. Steve suggested that it would be useful to have a fixed voltage source under the control of a big knob, and the ability to go from as little as 1V over the entire range of the knob. Hence subtle, incremental changes are possible. The final feature set includes a voltage selection switch as well as a unipolar/bipolar switch. Both normal and inverted outputs are included. The following ranges are available from Turn! Turn! depending on switch positions:• 0V to 1V• 0V to 2.5V• 0V to 5V• -1V to 1V• -2.5V to 2.5V• -5V to 5VDIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Wave Runner is a multi-waveform sync-able LFO based on the Electric Druid TAPLFO2D family of code, but with some significant additions and improvements. The TAPLFO2D-FC PIC and code is exclusive to Frequency Central and was developed specifically for the Wave Runner, and is not compatible with similar modules. All waveforms can be skewed using the Distort knob, as well as control over pulse width of square, and distortion of the cyclic waveforms, this get you control over Noise freq as well as bitcrushing, bitcrush of S/H down to 1 bit for random triggers. Tap sync input, for syncing to whatever. Wave Runner measures the last two incoming pulses and syncs itself to these. Multiply knob allows for Wave Runner to run at x0.5, x1, x1.5, x2, x3 and x4 of the incoming sync pulse. Freq is from stupid slow (0.025Hz) into low audio range (50Hz). Frequency Central - Whiteface
Frequency Central - Whiteface

available

Whiteface is based on the legendary ARP4023 VCF module often found in the “whiteface” ARP Odyssey Mk1. I’ve engineered out the rare parts and the need for matched transistors for the CV input section by using a Roland-inspired circuit there instead, no change to the vibe though! The audio path remains pure ARP, with one exception – built as specified on the schematic, the resonance would clip in a way which is neither musical or desirable when set too high. I’ve come across a couple of other versions which have this ‘don’t turn it up past 8’ trait, but I went further and engineered that out – a single resistor value change. In Whiteface, the resonance is usable and musical over the entire range!DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module. sold out at the moment

Wonderland is an 8×8 active patchbay/matrix mixer/switcher for both audio and control voltages.Any of the 8 inputs can be patched to any of the 8 outputs simply by pressing the corresponding switches. A patched signal will appear at both normal and inverted outputs simultaneously.A single input can be patched to a single output. A single input can be patched to multiple outputs. Multiple inputs can be patched to a single output. Multiple inputs can be patched to multiple outputs. Each input features a micro-attenuator which can be set with a small screwdriver. This space saving feature allows you to reduce the volume of an incoming signal without having to resort to external attenuators. If you add many inputs to one output you will of course cause clipping (which may or may not be desirable!), the micro-attenuators are your on-board way around this. I find it useful to leave the micro-attenuators set to 50% (which is how they come pre-set at delivery). Of course, their size is a little bit of a compromise, but they are a useful feature nonetheless. Wonderland’s sister module Looking Glass includes full size input attenuators as well as LED status indicators.Features:• 8 inputs (1 through to 8), each with micro-attenuators (which can be set with a small screwdriver)• 8 buffered inverted outputs (A through to H) which are 180o out of phase with the inputs• 8 buffered normal outputs (A through to H) which are in phase with the inputs• A switch matrix of 64 push on/push off switchesDIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Frequency Central - XVCF TWO
Frequency Central - XVCF TWO

sold out at the moment

Roland System 100M based VCF for Eurorack. Way back in the mists of time, I acquired a Roland System 100m, my first modular system. I’d used Roland synths of that era before, and what always stood out was the clarity and precision of the filters, clean and squelchy with searing resonance. My 100m boasted 3 filters, and had these qualities in spades. When I started out into Eurorack, it was this sound that I craved, but there was nothing quite like it available in the format, so I made my own. Soon, folks started knocking, asking me to build a Roland style filter module for them too. So, System X Filter was born, adding a 12dB output in addition to the regular 24dB output. This module has adapted and changed over the time we have been producing it, now renamed XCF TWO to sit alongside our XVCO TWO. I like to feel that the current version is the best of the lot!DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module. Frequency Central - XVCO TWO

XVCO TWO is essentially the Roland 100M VCO adapted to Euro. There are individual outputs for ramp, square and triangle - an improvement on the original. The six position rotary switch for octaves gives the oscillator plenty of range, with a pitch control to fine tune. An internal LFO (thanks MC202) can be used to introduce FM and/or PWM. Super! We’ve spent a lot of time tweaking the levels of the waveforms relative to 0V to take into account Euro’s +/-12V supply (instead of the 100M’s +/-15V supply). Care has been taken to set XVCO TWO so that it needs only minimal tweaking of the trimmers for scaling. It’s easy to set up without recourse to ‘scopes, frequency counters, and precision reference oscillators! Accurate up to 7 octave too!DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1.
