Music Thing Modular - 16mb Workshop Blank PGM Card Set

Product information "Music Thing Modular - 16mb Workshop Blank PGM Card Set"

Important: These cards might look like Micro SD cards, but they're not! Workshop program cards use a unique, proprietary format specifically designed for the Music Thing Modular Workshop System.

This set includes two blank 16MB cards, ready for programming your own creations and ideas.

An excellent example of what's possible with the larger 16MB cards is Brian Dorsey's Backyard Rain – you can explore and download it directly from GitHub.

New programs and creative tools for the Workshop cards are constantly being developed by the community. For details on current programs, check out the comprehensive Workshop Computer Guide, or subscribe to the free Workshop System Newsletter to stay informed about the latest additions.

These program cards store the complete flash memory used by the Workshop’s RP2040 microcontroller. Because of this, the Workshop Computer itself doesn't hold any permanent firmware. Everything lives on the program cards.

Cards are easy to program, update, or reprogram via USB with a straightforward drag-and-drop method. You can create your own software in C/C++ (using Pico SDK), Arduino Pico, Circuit Python, or any other compatible programming environment for the RP2040 chip.

Manufacturer "Music Thing Modular"
Eurorack Modular Synth format. They are designed in Herne Hill, London by Tom Whitwell. I’m a former journalist and magazine editor (Mixmag & The Face). In the noughties I ran the Music Thing blog, before working at The Times. Got into DIY electronics after attending a workshop with Tom Bugs, reading Handmade Electronic Music, playing with Arduino and building guitar pedals. Contacting me directly is rarely a quick way to get help with a project or a technical problem. GitHub issue lists are a good place to start (Turing Machine, Radio Music), a search of MW DIY will often find answers, as will looking at the Facebook Synth DIY group. You can read more about Music Thing Modular and open source in this article: Why Open Source Music Hardware works for Music Thing Modular.
