This is the new 2025 contact mic version. With a contact microphone, any surface or object becomes a canvas for sonic exploration. Unlike traditional recording methods that capture sound waves traveling through air, contact microphones pick up vibrations directly from materials – allowing you to "listen" to objects, plants, or even soil from the inside out. This unique perspective unlocks a world of intriguing and sometimes abstract sounds, making it an essential tool for experimental recording and sound design. The 2025 edition of LeafAudio’s popular contact microphone has been completely re-engineered for maximum flexibility and features full electrical shielding for optimal performance. This upgraded model comes in a set with a durable neoprene zip-bag, ensuring safe transport while providing space for all included accessories. Thanks to its universal clamp mechanism and strong rubber bands, it can be mounted on almost any surface. Additionally, the newly developed probe mechanism — created in collaboration with sound designer Robert Dudzic — lets you capture sounds even from inside objects, soil, and more, expanding the creative possibilities even further.Equipped with a high-quality 2m (6.5ft) SC-Onyx Tynee cable by Sommer Cable, the microphone is available in two versions: one with a 3.5mm (1/8") Amphenol connector and another with a 6.3mm (1/4") Hicon connector. Includes:• Contact microphone• Neoprene zip-bag• Universal holder• Probe mechanism• 2 rubber bands• Allen key
Field Amp is LeafAudio's solution for the world of body sound transmission: recording the world with contact microphones. It provides high-gain, noise-free amplification and impedance conversion to ensure the best possible sound quality from your contact mics. After releasing our Microphonic Soundbox, the team of LeafAudio quickly realized they’d hit a sweet spot. Many sound designers praised its clean, noise-free amplification – even if they didn’t need the Soundbox itself. So they created a standalone solution: the Field Amp. If you want the Soundbox amp without the box, the Field Amp is your new best friend. Perfect for studio work, field recording, sound installations and creative sound design of all kinds.Quality amplification & power management circuitry. No noise or beeping can be heard or seen in the spectrum, not even above the hearing range, which would come into focus later during sound manipulation processes. You can record with high sampling rates, transpose the audio by a lot and enjoy your pure sound. Just the clear, pristine audio you want to capture with your contact microphones.Optimised for travelling. The small unit is fully portable, light, offers many mounting possibilities. A professional case is included, which also can carry your contact mics, batteries and cables.Body sound transmission vs. airborne sound. We’re used to hearing the world the way our ears do—through air. Sound travels through the air before reaching our eardrums or a microphone. But with contact microphones, you change that perspective. Instead of hearing the surface of materials, you hear from within them. This shift opens up a powerful trick for sound design. It reveals a hidden world of textures and tones that are normally out of reach. Give it a try—there’s an entire universe of sound waiting to be discovered.Field Amp is optimised for Hi-Z signals of contact microphones. It also acts as an impedance converter with a powerful output signal. No loss of signal quality when you keep the wiring short between microphones and the input. The output is a strong signal and you don't have to worry about a few meters of cable. We recommend using the shielded contact microphones by LeafAudio. Generally you can try contact mics with our pre-amp, hydrophones, or guitar pickups. We offer separate adapters for both input and output to ensure compatibility with all your devices.Features:• Low-Noise pre-amp for contact microphones• Case included• 9V DC power supply or battery• USB-C to barrel connector adapter cable included• Up to ~50x adjustable gain• 1 mono input• 2 mono outputs (one -12 dB)• All connections 3.5 mm (1/8") mono jack• Input impedance: 3,3M Ohm• Output impedance: 1k Ohm• 12 x 12 x 3.4 cm• 410 g (incl. case & USB-C to barrel cable)• 1/4"-UNC mount on top and bottom for camera tripods etc.
The Geophone is a omnidirectional seismic sensor that captures low-frequency vibrations. Besides detecting seismic activity, the Geophone can be used to capture extreme low-end for sound design, music production, field recording, foley and game sound. We offer two versions to meet your budget and your needs: Geophone S and Geophone L. Both come in a protective hard case, equipped with a magnet, steel spike, clamp and suction cup.We offer an add-on pack for both versions - it includes a variable clamp that allows the angle to be continuously adjusted to optimize their sound performance, a special woodscrew and an adapter from M4 to 1/4" universal camera mount.Geophone L has an extended frequency range and sensitivity over Geophone S.* Due to the nature of Geophones it might be possible that it picks up electromagnetic fields and interferences in some areas. Please note that the Geophone itself, and also the included magnets might have unwanted effects on credit cards, hard disks, ICDs and other devices that work on the basis of electromagnetism!Features:• Height / width: 76 x 42 mm• Weight: 250 g (Geophone L with cable & XLR)• Weight: 472 g (incl. case and included add-ons)• Case• 2,0 m cable with balanced XLR• Frequency range: 15 Hz - 1000+ Hz• Impedance: 5222 Ohm• Distortion: 0,05 %• Sensitivity: 74,8 V/m/s
This add-on package is specifically for Geophone L. It will NOT fit for Geophone S!It includes:• Bow holder• Special woodscrew• Adapter from M4 to 1/4" universal camera mountThe bow holder allows you to not only attach the Geophone 90° or parallel to surfaces but also in in a variable angle. It might optimize the sound performance, as due to the nature of the construction of a Geophone, it will deliver slightly different results depending on the angle. The holder features an M4 threading like the Geophone itself, means you can combine it with the magnet that comes with the Geophone. Please do not use the Geophone as screw-driver for the wood screw!

The Microphonic Soundbox is an instrument for experimental sound creation. It features a resonant wooden body equipped with contact microphones, battery-powered low-noise preamps and a variety of sound-generating surfaces, including springs, rods, textured panels and a kalimba. Use it standalone to create textures and samples or pair it with delay and loop-based effects for evolving soundscapes. The Instrument features a range of playable surfaces and objects that allow the creation of unheard sounds and textures. The main components are:• Two metal rods – you can excite them with a stick or similar to get bell-like sounds, or play them with a bow to create ethereal–metallic tones. Pitching recordings down reveals deep metallic drones.• Three metal springs – pluck, pull or whip them to produce vintage reverb-like spring sounds.• Sandpaper surface – scratch it with different objects and materials to create sounds ranging from soft whispering to harsh scraping noises.• Kalimba with 5 strips – play harmonic melodies or use the freely tunable mechanism to explore microtonal tunings. Transposing these recordings down can create low bass patterns. The Soundbox is designed to be modular, featuring M3 threaded strips that allow additional objects to be attached using thumb screws. To pick up the vibrations created by the surfaces and objects, two contact microphones are built into the instrument. One is placed at the centre for the kalimba, rods, springs and sandpaper. The second is positioned at the side to capture sounds from attached objects. The internal preamp is specially designed to amplify contact microphones, delivering low-noise amplification with precise detail – allowing you to boost even the smallest and quietest objects and turn them into cinematic, gigantic soundscape. Two Channels, One Input, Two OutputsThe Microphonic Soundbox offers two independent amplifier channels and a 1/4″ input for external contact microphones, enabling extended routing options. The Microphonic Playground can serve as an extension as well to multiply your sonic possibilities.Output 1 provides a mono mix of both channels. Using Output 2 alongside Output 1 splits the channels, allowing the Soundbox to be played on one output while the second one functions as an amplifier for an external contact microphone.Expand the Soundbox with Add-ons for New Sonic DimensionsThe Microphonic Soundbox is designed for experimentation and for playing with different objects, materials and surfaces. You are free to use whatever you like to develop your own signature sounds. To help you get started, we’ve developed several Add-on Packs that create interesting sounds straight out of the box.Features:• Two channels with internal contact microphones• Battery powered low noise pre-amps (~100x / ~40dB Gain)• Two outputs: mixed mono or channels separated• Channel one can act as pre-amp for external input• Multifunctional holder, based on M3 threaded strips (left side & under Kalimba)• Removable Kalimba• Soundbox is a hub for external contact mics: use channel 1 as pre-amp on out 1 while play the actual Soundbox on out 2• Output features an attenuator switch• Power management switches the LED from blue to red when battery goes under 7 volt• Soft grip rubber feet for acoustic decoupling• Removable metal rods which come in a plastic tube which is great for transpor
