Zlob Modular - Dual VCA (Panel PCB)

Product information "Zlob Modular - Dual VCA (Panel PCB)"

This is the panel PCB version of this kit.

Dual summed voltage controlled amplifier and mixer in 2 HP. It is a DC coupled OTA (LM13700) Dual Linear VCA based on the same fabled design of the VnIcursal VCA. The 2 VCAs are summed together so it can be used as a voltage controlled mixer at the “SUM OUT” or all 3 outs can be used separately and simultaneously. 5 volts into the CV in will provide unity gain, anything above 5 volts can clip the input.

DIY-Kit-Type:
Panel/PCB Kit. This is a do-it-yourself panel/PCB kit, no parts are supplied, you will need to source them yourself.

Product Safety Information

Please read this safety guide before assembly or use.

Important Notice & Intended Use
• This kit contains only a front panel and printed circuit board (PCB).
• All additional electronic components, hardware, and cables must be sourced separately by the user.
• The kit is intended for adult users experienced in electronics and modular synthesis.
• Assembly, including soldering, is required. Proper testing and installation are essential to ensure safe and functional operation.
• The completed module is intended for installation in a Eurorack-compatible synthesizer system powered by ±12V and +5V.
• Use outside this scope may result in malfunction, damage, or safety risks.

General Warnings

Electrical Hazards:
• Ensure the power supply matches the module’s specified voltage and current ratings (refer to the documentation). Incorrect voltage can damage the module and pose a safety risk.
• Never connect or disconnect the module while the Eurorack system is powered on.
• Wrong polarity can damage the module and the entire system. Verify correct orientation before powering.

Heat Generation:
• Completed modules may generate heat during operation. Ensure proper ventilation within your Eurorack case.

Sharp Edges:
• The panel and PCB may have sharp edges. Handle carefully to avoid injury.

Small Parts:
• Solder joints, headers, and hardware are small parts and may pose a choking hazard. Keep away from children and pets.

Compatibility:
• The design is intended only for Eurorack systems. Use with non-compatible formats may result in malfunction or damage.

Assembly Requirements
• Users must provide their own electronic components according to the bill of materials (BOM).
• Soldering skills are required to complete the module.
• Ensure a clean, well-lit and ventilated workspace free of flammable materials during assembly.
• Use appropriate tools and personal protective equipment, such as eye protection.

Testing
• Test the module thoroughly for shorts or incorrect assembly before powering it in your Eurorack system. When the unit has malfunctions due to incorrect assembly, the entire Eurorack system might be damaged. It's a good idea to test it in a separate case with only that single module.
• Use a multimeter or other appropriate tools to confirm proper functionality.

Installation and Use
• Mount securely in a Eurorack case using suitable screws.
• Use only a manufacturer-recommended power cable.
• Connect only when the system power is off.
• Follow module-specific documentation for correct operation. Do not exceed input/output specifications.

Responsibility
• Users are solely responsible for sourcing correct components, proper assembly, and testing.
• The manufacturer or distributor cannot guarantee performance if non-recommended components are used.
• Contact support for questions before assembly if needed.

Environmental Safety
• Dispose of PCBs, components, and packaging in accordance with local electronic waste regulations.

Liability Disclaimer
• The manufacturer or distributor is not responsible for injury, damage, or malfunction resulting from incorrect assembly, sourcing of unsuitable components, or improper installation and use.
