The Threetom Modular “Mixing Flask” is a utility mixer offering mix-bus limiting and a cornucopia of indicator lights integrated behind a unique chemical lab-inspired front panel.I designed Mixing Flask as a solution to my main three gripes with conventional utility mixers:• Mixing too hot is too easy, leading to hard clipping on the mix-bus. And even when there’s an indicator light to warn you when this is happening, there are no features to actively prevent it.• Utility mixers usually only offer unity gain, so when you have a weak input signal (like a MTM Radio Music), you’re out of luck• They’re nauseatingly boringMIXING FLASK provides solutions to these annoyances in the following ways:• I’ve implemented a soft-clipping limiting circuit on the mix-bus (inspired by DOPPIO). The highest setting prevents the mix-bus from hard clipping altogether in favor of warm saturation.• All inputs have a gain of +6dB allowing you to better equalize between volumes while maintaining a hot mix-bus output• The myriad of indicator lights and front-panel graphics make you feel like a mad scientist in your modular chemical lab. I bet you won’t find another utility mixer that makes mixing more exciting than Mixing Flask!Use cases:• Mix oscillator waveforms without the risk of hard-clipping• Mix CV signals while keeping an eye on what’s coming in and going out• Give a gentle boost to weak input signals (e.g. from a sampler module)• Have a utility mixer in your case that’s interesting to look at, and doesn’t bore you to death!Features:• Three different flavors of saturation on the mix output (hard clipping, soft/hard clipping, or soft-limiting)• Three inputs with up to +6dB of gain, and bipolar monitor lights• One mix output with three-stage bipolar monitor lights (signal present, signal nominal, hard-clipping warning)• Backlit chemical-lab-inspired front-panel graphicsDIY-Kit-Type:SMD-Kit-1. The 7J is a compact joystick controller module. For each axis the joystick can work as an attenuator or attenuverter, selectable via unipolar or bipolar mode switches. The inputs (normalled to +5V) have dedicated attenuators and both X and Y outputs are equipped with continuously variable offset control (-5 to +5V) for fine-tuning the voltage ranges independently. The 7J also has a manual gate generator on board. The joystick itself is without an auto-return to centre spring, perfect for hands-on expression and playful interaction.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Bipolar Attenuator & DC SourceAttenuators are very useful modules on every system. Taking control over the amplitude and polarity of the signals becomes necessary when we want to have full control over our sounds.Asset has been designed with compact systems in mind. Is small enough to not take much space on the rack but also powerful, providing six channels with individual controls over each circuit parameter. Some design decisions make Asset a different approach from the classical “Attenuverter” circuits:The pots work in a classical unipolar way, allowing to shut down the signal completely as you don’t need to deal with its center position. It also gives you more precision as the whole range of the pot is used either to attenuate or invert, not both.Having manual switches to either invert the signal and the offset is useful when we just want to invert the signal, keeping its original amplitude intact.Input chaining adds tons of flexibility to the patch allowing the use of the same signal multiple times in different ways. A perfect functionality to use on generative or polyphonic patches.Features:• Six channels• DC Offset generator per channel• Selectable Invert mode for both attenuation and offset circuit• Daisy-chained inputs• Offset generator range: +/- 10V• Input Impedance: 100kΩ• Output Impedance: 1kΩDIY-Kit-Type:SMD-Kit-1. The Attenumixer is a 4 HP 3 channel passive attenuator and mixer module. Each channel is normalled to the sum(VI) so it can be used as a 2 channel mixer and 1 channel attenuator, or a 3 channel mixer, or as 3 separate attenuators. Normalization to the sum is broken by inserting a jack into the outs of channels I-III. The Attenumixer works well with both cv and audio, although the potentiometers have a linear response. Since the module is passive there will be signal loss at the sum out.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module. Dual summed mute Attenuator, Offset Generator, Mixer, and Mute in 2HPThe newest 666 version (2021) can be powered and will provide Offset of 0-5V with nothing plugged into the “IN” for each channel controlled by each respective Potentiometer. The “Sum Out” will also be able to send out 0-10v~ volts depending on the setting of each Potentiometer. Both channels are normalled to the sum, so inserting a signal into an “IN” will remove it from the “Sum Out. There will be signal loss at the sum out, because the module is passive. Great for cv or audio although the module ships with linear pots.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This is a Do-It-Yourself kit, not an assembled module. The kit includes all parts to build the module.
