Meth Amp is based around the fuzz core of the EH Big Muff pedal. Lovely fuzz and distortion based on the classic Big Muff pedal! It’ll do wooly warm fuzz, subtle tone shaping with a soft saturation/colour, feedback madness and work as a great output VCA (LPG style tones possibly too). The clipping diodes have been replaced by red LEDs to take account of the change in power supply from 9V in the original Big Muff to +/-12V in Meth Amp.To the fuzz core has been added a bunch of OTAs, each controlling a different aspect of audio processing: gain, regen (a new feature - not present in Big Muff), tone and volume. Thereby, each feature is fully voltage controllable.Additionally, there is a separate x100 preamp which can be used to boost external audio for further processing by Meth Amp. ThermoNuclear is a sub-miniature vacuum tube based overdrive. The first stage is a MOSFET with switchable mu-amp. The second stage is a self biased sub-miniature pentode with switchable triode/pentode. Then there’s a tonestack based on the EH Big Muff. Finally, there’s a blend control and another MOSFET stage for some gain recovery after the tonestack. ThermoNuclear will crush and destroy your tone with a pleasing warm tubey goodness.Although the filament of the tube will glow, it’s not a lightbulb, and the level of glow may vary between different tubes.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. ASCOLTA is a dual high fidelity input preamp with envelope follower and peak detector output for each channel. Ascolta consist of two individual high quality preamp connected to an envelope follower and a peak detector output. On the back of the module you can select the behaviour of its internal normalization when no cable is plugged into I2:S: the first input I1 will accept stereo 3.5mm standard cables from any source and split L and R to output O1 and O2 respectively. This version incorporates the features of the (now discontinued) Mutable Ears module but allows you to push the preamp into dirtier territory. The kit also includes a choice of 2 x frontpanels allowing the builder to choose whether to have the scratchplate at the top or bottom of the panel.Tom Whitwell the designer of Mikrophonie describes the original thus:“Mikrophonie is a microphone preamp with a piezo contact mic built into the panel.It is an easy way to bring environmental noise and feedback into a modular system, inspired by the early days of electroacoustic music in Paris and Cologne, and by the contact microphone and phonograph cartridge experiments of John Cage, Gordon Mumma, Robert Ashley and Nicholas Collins. The Threetom Modular “Mixing Flask” is a utility mixer offering mix-bus limiting and a cornucopia of indicator lights integrated behind a unique chemical lab-inspired front panel.I designed Mixing Flask as a solution to my main three gripes with conventional utility mixers:• Mixing too hot is too easy, leading to hard clipping on the mix-bus. And even when there’s an indicator light to warn you when this is happening, there are no features to actively prevent it.• Utility mixers usually only offer unity gain, so when you have a weak input signal (like a MTM Radio Music), you’re out of luck• They’re nauseatingly boringMIXING FLASK provides solutions to these annoyances in the following ways:• I’ve implemented a soft-clipping limiting circuit on the mix-bus (inspired by DOPPIO). The highest setting prevents the mix-bus from hard clipping altogether in favor of warm saturation.• All inputs have a gain of +6dB allowing you to better equalize between volumes while maintaining a hot mix-bus output• The myriad of indicator lights and front-panel graphics make you feel like a mad scientist in your modular chemical lab.
