Befaco - Chopping Kinky
Befaco - Chopping Kinky

available

Chopping kinky is a voltage controllable, dual channel wavefolder. As an unique feature it has a chop out that will choose between both channels with a zero cross detector or an external gate.• A wavefolder converts simple signals into richer and more dynamically changing ones. In contrast to a filter, wave folding adds harmonic content to the waveform. It works by amplifying the waveform until it begins to saturate, then rather than clipping, the waveform gets folded back in on itself.• Each of the module’s two channels has a unique wave folding profile. At each input, there are two CV inputs for controlling the level of waveshaping including one that passes through an attenueverter.• Chopping Kinky is DC coupled allowing it to be used for both CV and audio duties; to generate harmonics on an audio signal or kinking LFOs and envelopes.Features:• Two unique wavefolder circuits• Two CV inputs per channel, one with attenuverter.• DC Coupled inputs allowing CV signals.• Chop out with zero cross detector.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Crush Delay v3 is a special Echo-Delay unit based on the PT2399 IC, which is able to offer 400ms of clean delay and up to 2 seconds of dirty repetitions, having a special talent to generate noisy-glitch textures. This third version comes with some interesting new features like redesigned VCAs circuits, wider range for clean delay and reduced depth to make it skiff friendly.• The module has two inputs (In and Return) that go to the Delay circuit through a dedicated VCA for each one. The main difference between both inputs is the signal fed into In is going to the Dry/Wet circuit also, not only to the Delay, allowing you to control the balance between the original and the processed signal present at the main output (Out).• The signal is processed by the Delay circuit, which is affected by the Crush section. It degrades the signal at slow rates in different ways, depending on the position of the three Crush switches or by the presence of gate signals at the Crush inputs.• After being processed, the signal is routed to three different paths. The first one goes into Dry/Wet, where it’s mixed with the original input signal (In) before going to the main output (Out). The second one is returned to the Delay circuit through another VCA (Feedback), controlling the number of repetitions of the wet signal. Finally, the last one goes directly to the Send output.Features:• Input signal controlled by VCA’s• Bigger range of clean delay• Three different Crush Modifiers based on circuit bending techniques.• VC Feedback wit automatic gain controlDIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. Analog Thru-Zero Wavefolding VCO/LFOPony VCO is a fully analog Thru-Zero oscillator with wavefolder and dedicated VCA in only 4HP. The module offers great stability and tuning capabilities thanks to its powerful core, based on Sound Semiconductors IC. It comes with range selector, that allows it to go down to LFO range, as well as octave and waveform selectors. In Through Zero oscillators, frequency is controlled by either positive and negative voltage. If FM CV goes below zero, the core will continue oscillating inverting its phase. This “little” change of behaviour allows the core to create a whole new range of timbres that are just impossible to achieve with regular VCOs. If you set the module as LFO, the range of funky modulations will be endless! There is a separate panel for conversion to 1U available. You can use the 1U panel with the normal 3U module, but have to buy it additionally and you have to make some changes by soldering a hand full of SMD parts, but it's quite easy. 1U format keeping the same functionality and control layout. In Through Zero oscillators, frequency is controlled by either positive and negative voltage. Befaco - Spring Reverb
Befaco - Spring Reverb

This is our take on an analog spring reverb module. Featuring VCAs for the two available inputs (with different routing), CV control for DRY/WET and visual feedback for signal levels at input and output of the tank.Reverberation can be defined as the sum of all the reflections created from an initial sound source within a space, at a point within that space, over time.To simulate this effect we can pass a sound through a spring with two transducers at either end. As the sound propagates it will cause the spring to expand and contract, creating a series of reflections that are picked up by the transducers (along with the original sound). This creates a simulation of reverberation with (in the case of spring of the reverb) a characteristic and classic colour.Electronically generated audio will usually sound starkly different to acoustically generated sound. This is more-often-than-not a desirable thing, but there are times when you might want to bring the “depth” of an acoustic environment back into your mix.The obvious difference between acoustic and synthesised sounds is that acoustic instruments have resonators, and exist in reverberant spaces. One way to add depth to an electronic sound is to somehow simulate the characteristics of a space, and mix this with the original signal.Features:• Two CV controlled audio inputs. In 1 (routed to Dry) and In 2 (routed directly to the tank)• Two independent Mix and Wet output.• High-pass filter on tank’s input to control the colour of the reverberation.• Vu-Meter to visualize level on Wet output.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. The Dannysound Dynamics is a compressor / expander originally designed to process drums but like most processing devices, it can be used for a wide variety of applications. The module comprises of:• Compressor / Expander• Sub Bass Enhancer• 3 Band Inductor-based EQ• Harmonic ExciterThe compressor / expander section uses a discrete transistor-based circuit that allows for soft clipping when overdriven. The envelope detector is known as a feedforward type of circuit; taking it’s input from the signal before it goes to the compressor rather than after. This type of circuit is known for having fast attack times. The Sub Bass enhancer has its own compression circuit that “ducks” the initial transient. This allows the sub bass to be increased without distortionon the transient peaks increasing the overall level. There is a MIX control to allow the unprocessed signal to be mixed back in with the processed signal. The 3 band EQ is an inductor based LCR design. After trying out various EQ topologies this was the design that sounded the nicest. When overdriven it gives a nice “bite” to the sound and it has a certain characterful charm that’s hard to put into words. The controls have a response that are subtle to begin with and get more pronounced as the controls are increased. The Harmonic Exciter adds a little distortion to the high frequencies which bring out the sparkle of cymbals or the snap snare drums. The operating bandwidth can be switched between Low (snare drum snap) or High (Cymbals sparkle). There are inputs for side chaining and control with an external envelope as well as an envelope out to make the envelope detector output available to drive other modules. It also features separate inputs and outputs for the Compressor / Expander and EQ sections, so they could be used as 2 separate modules.Features:• Compressor / Expander• Sub Bass Enhancer• 3 Band Inductor-based EQ• Harmonic Exciter• Envelope In/Out• Sidechain Input• Separate In/Out for Comp/Exp and EQ sectionsDIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1. This module is based around a BBD integrated circuit and allows for classic delay-based effects, from slapback echoes to trailing reverberations, from flanger-like sounds to crusty down-sampled madness. The module is DIY, sold as a kit by Erica Synths and comes with a very thorough assembly manual that provides deep insight into the functioning of every part of the circuit you'll build. The module itself features all your classic delay-related controls, from delay time to feedback amount, a dry/wet mix control and even a switch to select between 2 different delay ranges.A nice, surprising addition is a patch point labeled "Inhibit CV" which, whenever it is presented with a gate signal, will disconnect the clock signal from the BBD chip, essentially stopping the effect in its tracks. The clock will resume as soon as the gate goes low at this patch point, and the BBD circuit will then return to normal operation. This feature lets the player add some rhythm to the effect or perform other interesting shenanigans. We - Erica Synths and Moritz Klein - have developed a series of educational DIY kits under the brand name mki x es.EDU with one specific goal in mind: to teach people with little-to-no prior experience how to design analog synthesizer circuits from scratch. What you’ll find in the box is not simply meant to be soldered together and then disappear in your rack. Instead, we want to take you through the circuit design process step by step, explaining every choice we’ve made and how it impacts the finished module.NB! All kits in these series are simple and come with extensive user manuals which can be downloaded separately, therefore we will not provide customer support in case your DIY build fails to function or similar.DIY-Kit-Type:THT-Kit-1.
